Queen's
Award presentation
ORION
Clinical Services receives Queen’s Award
from HRH Duke of Kent 2003
SLOUGH,
10 November 2003: ORION Clinical Services has celebrated
the formal presentation of The
Queen’s Award for Enterprise
2003 in the International Trade category for services in support
of drug development. The presentation was made at its new headquarters
at 7 Bath Road, Slough, by HRH Duke of Kent in the presence of
the Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire, the Mayor and Mayoress of Slough
and the Chief Executive of Slough Borough Council and all of
the UK ORION team.
Phillip
Wroughton, Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire, said “Through
this Award today, you gain further national and international
recognition of the immense value of the services you provide
to the pharmaceutical
and biotechnology industries. As your brochure proudly states
you have developed a reputation for reliability and this is
amply proven
by the increasing demand for your advice and services which
overseas alone have trebled in the past 3 years with particular
impact
in Europe, North America and Japan. You have a very large number
of
worldwide clients who remain hugely grateful for your research
and clinical trials, and today we give you our congratulations
and thanks.”
"Queen’s
Awards are not easily won – in all the Queen
made 123 Awards this year from over 1,000 applications. There
were 62 Awards for International Trade from a field of 362
entries of
odds of 6:1 against – proof indeed of your tremendous
achievement.”
Dr
Alan Irvine, Chief Executive Officer of ORION Clinical Services,
said “Unlike a pharmaceutical
company, we do not manufacture and sell medicinal products,
we offer our individual and collective
expertise to our pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients.
Being a service company, our reputation is dependent upon
the collective
contributions of all staff involved on a project. This
award has thus been earned by all present today, but also by
many
more ORION
employees worldwide.”
Dr
Fabrice Chartier, Chief Scientific Officer, said “The
receipt of the Queen’s Award represents a tremendous
step in our exceptional history. It truly reflects our
international
strategy, further strengthening our position to win and
efficiently manage global clinical development projects.”
